What military time is it in london

military time, also known as 24 hour notation, is a way of telling time that uses a 24 hour period instead of the traditional 12 hour clock. This system is widely used by the armed forces around the world, including those in the United Kingdom, and is often seen on clocks in London. To distinguish between morning and afternoon times, military time will use an "a" for ante meridiem (before noon) or a "p" for post meridiem (after noon). So rather than saying 8 o'clock in the morning or 8 o'clock at night, military time would say 0800hrs (8 am) or 2000hrs (8 pm).

For those living (or visiting) London, military time can cause confusion. After all, it does not follow any of the usual conventions. However, it can be easy to understand if you understand some basic points about it.

First of all, if something is written or said in military time then it will always show either four or five digits. There are never three digits and there are never six digits – always four or five only.

Second, it runs from 0000 hours (midnight) to 2359 hours (one minute before midnight). Everything is done in hour intervals so hours will come in groups of four – 0001 to 0009 then 0010 to 0019 and so on right up to 2350 to 2359 hours.

Thirdly, when telling times in military style it is important that you do not add anything extra like 'o'clock' or AM/PM after the numbers even though these items may be used at times elsewhere along with 12 hour clock methods . So for example 0800 hrs would just be spoken as 'zero eight hundred hours', not 'zero eight hundred hours o'clock'!

Finally - and this may also help you when looking at clocks showing military time - remember that during daylight saving time these times have already been shifted forward by one hour simple because during summer 12-7pm become 1-8pm etc... Summer days start with 0100HRS while winter days begin with 0000HRS
